Meet Dr. Karel Vandervelden

It’s a Privilege to Care for Others

To me, practicing dentistry is a privilege. It’s a privilege to have the trust of my patients, to care for their oral health and wonderful smiles. I am honored they place their oral care in my hands and I strive to help each improve their dental health and quality of life.

I enjoy building lasting relationships with my patients and their families. Each person has their own stories to share. It is an absolute privilege to get to know so many wonderful people. It truly brings me joy.

My team and I do everything possible to make each visit comfortable and painless. We all believe that staying on top of your oral health will improve your quality of life! We love to educate patients on ways we can help them be pro-active about their oral health and how we can do minimally invasive preventive therapies to minimize risks of future major dental needs!

Education and Continuing Education

  • Bachelor of Arts in Physiology with Honors, Michigan State University

I’ve also completed courses on dental implants and studied through the White Cap Institute.

I was born in a small farm town in the Netherlands. My grandpa and dad operated a wooden shoe factory there for many years. The logo for KV Family Dental is a tribute to my family heritage.

In 1995 our family moved to Holland,MI where we have lived ever since.

When I’m not working, I love to spend time with my lovely wife Cassie.

Hobbies include travel, outdoor activities, music, reading, and campfires.

I am a born again Christian and believer in Jesus Christ. He has changed my life. I’m active in my church and attend a weekly house church. I’ve been on mission trips in the past and plan to go again soon! I also volunteer for “Miles of Smiles.”
